Effingham Lodge 98, is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization that is raising money to restore a 133-year-old home at 403 Fairfield St., NE, Aiken, SC. This historic home was formerly used to educate freed slaves, women and children. Our EIN is 23-7168077. This home was formerly a part of the Schofield Normal and Industrial School founded by Martha Schofield after the Civil War, and is the last remaining building of the historic school campus. Our goal is to raise $166,000 to complete major renovations to prevent further age-related deterioration. Upon completing major renovations, the historic home will be available to community residents for training and educational opportunities; as well as being a venue for community events.
