Aniin Boozhoo! My name is Robyn. I am Anishinaabe Kwe from Sagamok Anishinawbek and a runner with the Indigenous Running Club out of London, Ontario. I have been running marathons for 11 years now, and have had a goal for many years to complete all six World Major Marathons! I ran Chicago in 2012, New York in 2018, Berlin in 2019, Boston in 2024 and London in 2024. All I have left is the Tokyo marathon which is VERY difficult to get into. My parents have been behind me 110% ever since I started this crazy journey, and it is very important to me that both get to see me achieve this goal. As such, running in 2024 is so important for me, so I decided to go the charity runner route and pull out all the stops. Charity spots are given out after an open period of blind bidding, so because it's for charity, I decided to bid the maximum amount to run for NPO Florence of Japan. I was accepted on July 14, 2024! My bid was for 999,0000 YEN which when I made the payment it came out to just under $9800 CAD (standard Boston Marathon fundraising in $10K US MINIMUM). I'm now asking friends, family and community members if they would like to donate towards this amount to show support for this wonderful charity, and this everyday, ordinary Kwe who has been chasing this dream for 12 years! I was the girl in elementary school who cried if she was made to run 100m in gym class. This journey really shows that anything is possible! About the charity- NPO Florence is a registered Japanese charity that helps support young families to deal with things like food and housing insecurity, childcare, single parenting support, and support for children with disabilities. As a newly retired elementary teacher of 28 years, and a proud foster mama of 5, this cause is very near and dear to my heart! Chi miigwetch for any support you may be able to give!
