I’ve created a LFEBridge in an effort to help my dear friend Rhi and her fur baby Ryn. Here is their story: In May I noticed Ryn would periodically wake up and kind of cough. Almost like she was dry heaving. I thought she had acid reflux possibly. Made an appointment with her vet and they seen nothing wrong with her. No fever nothing. Just a happy treat loving pup.  Told me to just keep an eye on her. She continued the strange cough and then started breathing strange occasionally.  Something didn’t sit right with me. Took her back to the vet and they did chest X-rays. Said she had bronchitis and put her on antibiotics.  Things weren’t getting better so I started blowing the vets office up. Finally they said bring her back.  The vet said he recommended a test be done to see what was causing the inflammation in her lungs from the bronchitis but he still didn’t think there was anything to worry about.  My gut told me bs. So I left the vets office and drove straight to Sage Emergency.  From there everything is a blur. They took my baby and she was immediately placed in an oxygen chamber getting 40% oxygen and admitted to stay overnight.  As the doctor started talking and the “C” word kept being said I felt this knot growing in the back of my throat and I thought I was going to pass out.  I felt like I was in a strange long tunnel that just kept getting longer. Ryns X-rays showed she was barely able to breathe and had a severe lung infection as well as all lymph nodes were extremely enlarged making it even harder to breathe.   Options were make her comfortable and maybe she’d have days. Or start chemotherapy and give her a fighting chance. Because shes so young and otherwise healthy she was an excellent candidate for chemotherapy.  And from there our new journey began and I entered the emotional roller coaster of emotions that are now my daily routine. Ryn has large cell B lymphoma.  While lymphoma is a terminal cancer B cell is known to respond well to chemotherapy.  After ryns 1st treatment her lymph nodes reduced by 50%. Now at week 6 of chemo they are almost nonexistent.  Which is outstanding.  We are hopeful our next appointment (we go weekly) will be a good visit where we find out if she is in remission.  Remission is said to be roughly 12 months from diagnosis although I am hopeful she has a much longer remission. I have read of others having 5+ years of remission living their best pup lives.  Almost always it is expected multiple rounds of chemotherapy will be needed.  As long as Ryn is doing well and responding to the chemo I will continue to do whatever I have to do to get her the best treatment possible.  There are a lot of cost involved. Not just the chemo itself but the medications and supplements needed as well as her food. She is still eating kibble but also getting healthy cooked meals with bone broth, protein and vegetables.   We are on the 1st Round of Chemo Treatment Plan, on week 6 as of Monday, July 17th. Treatment timeline is June 12 - Nov 29th, 24 weeks total with a couple breaks and then Bi-weekly treatments. Chemo treatments alone will cost roughly $16k not including medication and additional test they may or may not come up along the way.   Treatment days are draining on Ryn and mom. We are typically in the hospital from 9-4pm depending on the testing needed that day. CBC (white blood count and if other test are requirod. Such as EKG on chemo days of Dox. Chemo days are scary so Ryn takes trazodone to help relax. While mom brings her laptop and sits on the floor working while the nurses bring her in and out of the room between test. This way shes not left in a kennel all day alone. Then mom and Ryn battle traffic & commute home. Ryn was born on March 4th and is just 3 years young. I’m praying she has many many many more birthdays.   She is an American Bully Pitbull mix. She is the definition of all bark and no bite. Complete LOVER.  Wants to say hello to everyone she comes into contact with. She even has her own ig page  https://instagram.com/life_of_ryn44?igshid=OGQ5ZDc2ODk2ZA==  (https://instagram.com/life_of_ryn44?igshid=OGQ5ZDc2ODk2ZA==) Loves kids, cuddling, fluffy pillows, and lounging on the top step of the swimming pool.  She’s my shadow “my mamas girl Ryn”, my soul pup. This has completely rocked my world and left me completely devastated. I can’t imagine my life without her.  We could use all of the prayers and positive healing energy possible from anyone and everyone…
