I need a new acoustic guitar. The binding on my guitar needs extensive repair and is being held together by painter’s tape at the moment. The profile picture for this campaign will demonstrate what I am talking about. While touring has been paying my bills, I have not been making enough to tuck away into a savings account. So, in the picture below, that blue tape on my guitar is holding my soundboard to the body of the guitar, as well as the backside of the guitar. It is covered under warranty by Martin Guitars, but I will need to send the guitar into a certified repair technician and they will need to keep the guitar for several months. Hence, I will need to figure out getting a new steel-string acoustic guitar while this one is being repaired. It is old. I bought it in 1996. It is near vintage, if not already—and unfortunately, the 1990’s model guitars they made are notorious for the binding coming loose because of the glue that Martin Guitars used during that decade. This 1996 Martin D3-R costed roughly $2,000 in 1996, which was significantly less than its more expensive counterpart, the D-35. Yes, I have an expensive guitar. However, you get what you pay for and it has been a wonderful instrument to me for nearly 30 years. I do like playing nice instruments, and I am hoping that I may be able to raise roughly $3,000 or $4,000 to purchase a new instrument as well as a pickup system to amplify it.
