My name is Moureen Owens, 22 years old from Kenya, Africa. Thank you taking for the time to read my story. This goal of $6500 US is my tuition for my third year at MacMillan University in Nariobi, Kenya to become a Certified Nurse Assistance (CNA). Classes resume on September 29th. The $6500 US will cover all expenses: tuition, transportation from my home in Ukunda to campus (10 hours away), accommodations on campus, uniforms, scrubs and textbooks. I stopped going to school in 2024 because my sponsor's (my high school teacher), financial state/business was badly affected during the COVID-19 pandemic. He could no longer provide the scholarship for my tuition. My dream to complete my studies and become a CNA has been a big mystery because of my family background. I am the firstborn of 4 children; 8 people in our home. My mum is a baby Sitter earning $130 US monthly. My StepDad is a Tailor, making at most $12 US a day. My cousin and Aunt live with us as well. It's been a challenge for my family to raise school fees for me because every amount my parents receive is used for rent for the one-bedroom house, pay my sibling school fees and give feed to us as welI would love to go to school because I believe that I can help my family. It is a custom in African culture, that the firstborn help their families. Coming from a poor family has been a big inspiration for me. As a Certififed Nurse Assistant, I will be in the position to earn a steady income that will help my family. I am also very passionate about serving my community mostly the young generation. While waiting to finish my studies, I have been on missions in various parts of Kenya and I have seen so many young people who have lost hope in God because of poverty. They go astray because they feel God has forsaken them. Most of them will tell you, God doesn't love them. They no longer trust in God. I believe as I go back to school and come back to help them as a CNA, God can bring them hope again, for His Glory. My mentor and Spiritual Mother, Dr. Celeste Owens never stopped telling me that I will one day go back to school. When she transitioned it was a big challenge for me because my hope for life was really broken and I felt like giving up. I know if she was here she would have wanted me to take bold steps of faith so I could accomplish my dreams. By setting up this LFEBridge, I am dreaming big again. I know she's happy seeing this from Heaven. I believe and know the Lord would make it happen through donations on this page. I have faith the Lord can take me back to medical school. I always hate to share this but I am also a victim of Child Gender neglect from my biological father. In some African communities, we have cases where a girl child is never accepted. The fathers prefer boys to girls. It hasn't been easy at all, since childhood. But I pray that as I go back to school, I will come back to help my community, to make the African communities realize the help erase the discrimination against girls. I desire that no girl child will lack their father's love because of the mentalities/culture of the communities. I have been desiring that one day I will work or study in America or Germany. After this one year of study, I can trust in God to apply and work abroad, save money then advance my studies to greater heights. I desire to become Registered Nurse and a Health Coach. This fundraiser is a great next step for me to see my dreams become reality. Thank you so much for reading my story. I pray that God blesses you as you have done as he has led you. It would be my joy and answered prayer to resume my studies this September. Please help me by sharing my story with friends so that I may fulfill my schooling desire as his grace keeps me in Him forever. AMEN.
