Hi, I’m Jada and I’m fundraising to help my furry soulmate, Mauer, get through chemotherapy and have a good quality of life. Mauer has something called cutaneous epitheliotropic lymphoma, a very rare, aggressive form of cancer. When it is found, it’s usually found in dogs (leave it to my guy to have something rare). Our choices are basically to do nothing, or do chemotherapy. I have chosen to do chemo, since it looks like there are very little side effects. Mauer’s quality of life is my number one priority, and if at any point that becomes questionable, I will do whatever I need to do to help him live comfortably, or go peacefully; whatever that looks like. He has a *wonderful* oncologist who is knowledgeable and a straight shooter. When asked what he would do if this were his cat, he told me he would try the chemotherapy. I trust his judgement. We should know within 1-2 chemo sessions if it is working for him. The chemo sessions are 3 weeks apart, and his first one will be next Wed at 8:30a. Each chemo session is $991, plus an anti-inflammatory injection since Mauer will NOT be pilled. The anti-inflammatory injection is to help with any pain/arthritis he may have, without making him drugged. This is the issue we have had with Gabapentin. Seeing him drugged on the Gabapentin hurts my heart, and I will gladly pay that to save us both from the drugged look/feelings. The injection is $158 every 4 weeks. Mauer is my heart and soul; and while pets don’t live forever, he is a fighter, and if he has more quality time left, I want to give that to both of us. I am putting his needs before mine; I love him with all my heart but that won’t get in the way of helping free him from all of this should things become too much. I trust that the vet will let me know if that happens. Both of us thank you so much for your help; no matter the amount. And if you don’t have the funds, don’t fret! I’ve been there. I get it. Even just online support is exactly what I need right now. Any donations that wind up not being needed for Mauer’s vet care will go to HART; a local cat rescue. Love, Jada and Mauer
