This fall, The Exuberance--led by Creative Producer Marisol Rosa-Shapiro--will present READ ME A WORLD in the Philadelphia Fringe Festival. And she needs your help to make it happen. Book lovers of all ages are invited to participate in the playful, immersive experience of READ ME A WORLD -- a collection of interactive activities and artist-designed, temporary outdoor reading nook installations that inspire the intimate, connective joy of reading aloud with loved ones. The Exuberance has collaborated with local visual artists, performers, literacy experts, and read -aloud advocates to curate this celebration of the imaginative act of creating worlds together through illustrations, text, play, curiosity, and the power of the expressive human voice. A multilingual cohort of magical Facilibrarians welcomes you to this peaceful and lively book party in the uniquely transformed Liberty Lands Park. All families and friends are invited to participate in READ ME A WORLD free of charge! Your contribution to this work will help pay more than fifteen artists whose creativity, innovation, and expertise will bring READ ME A WORLD to life for Philadelphians of all ages. Thank you for your support! MORE DETAILS: READ ME A WORLD is an experiment in public art making, creative placemaking, invitation, play, connection, imagination, and transforming public space towards relational intimacy. In collaboration with read-aloud expert dramaturg Amy Jensen , Philadelphia-based library and literacy partners, and a group of playful teaching artists and facilitators, attendees of all ages and reading levels will be invited to share in the pleasure of reading aloud to--and creating imaginative worlds with--their loved ones, within pop-up "reading nook" installations designed by local visual and installation artists, including Feather Chiaverini , George Rodriguez , Julie Woodard , and Natalie Kuenzi . The event, which will unfold over the course of four Saturday mornings in September, encourages participants to connect with their own expressive voices, explore their creative impulses, and take the small artistic risk of committing to silliness and feeling, in service of intergenerational connection and world building. READ ME A WORLD is part of the Cannonball Festival 's inaugural Performance for Young Audiences Cohort, and will be presented to all audiences free of charge at Liberty Lands Park in the Northern Liberties neighborhood of Philadelphia. Community partnerships include several North Philadelphia library branches where participatory read-aloud workshops will take place during August and September.
