For those of you who don't know me, my name is Dylan and I'm fundraising for my best friend Luna. Luna and I are coming off our toughest week as a duo. It was just over a week ago that Luna lost her ability to bare weight on her hind legs without screeching out in excruciating pain. Watching my best friend stuck without the use of her legs killed me. Knowing Luna for ten years without seeing her express even a fraction of the pain she was currently experiencing I knew something was very wrong so I rushed her to emergency. After seven days of multiple CT scans, an MRI plus however many pain medications Luna has had to face there is still no clear reason for the pain she is experiencing. However, we have been able to rule out many possibilities as to what the source of the pain is which is great but the unfortunate thing is that it still leaves us guessing as to what could be the cause of all of this. The doctors at Canada West have ensured me that the health of my dog is of good status and are stuck scratching their heads as to what is going on. Knowing the status of her health and all the time I've spent with her leading up to this is what has brought me so far down this road. I just can't wrap my head around putting my dog down knowing she is in good health and has many years ahead. It was a span of one night we woke up and Luna was unable to support her own weight. Luna is a 10 year old German Short Haired Pointer I bought when I was 20 years old for $150. Buying this dog I had no idea the positive impact she would make in my life. I am beside myself just knowing there is a possibility I may have to cut my dog's life short. Luna isn't just a dog she's my best friend, shotgun rider, hunting buddy, hike buddy, adventure buddy. I've gone on more adventures and seen more places with this dog than I've seen with most people. Words really can't express how much she means to me and how badly I want to see her come home. 100% of the funds raised through this fundraiser will be allocated to the vet bills we have accumulated throughout this process. Although it is not clear what is causing Luna her pain, as of today July 17th 2024 Luna has shown promising signs of progress. The medical professionals at Canada West were able to send me a video of Luna bearing weight on her hind legs while being assisted on a walk within their compound!!! I know times are tough, just everyday necessities are more expensive than ever. Trying to afford rent, groceries and having a little money on the side to go out and have fun to decompress seems impossible let alone $26,000 in vet bills. Just setting up this fundraiser has been a challenge for me in it's own but the truth is I need the help. Whatever you are able to give in helping me get my dog home will be much appreciated.
