PLEASE HELP ME SAVE LINCOLN My name is Michael Smith and my 6-month-old Great Dane Lincoln is at UC Davis fighting for his life. He has been at Davis since Wednesday, July 26th. We have spent $9,000 so far and have run out of funds. We desperately need help to continue his care and give him the best chance of recovery. Here is the back story... On July 7th it was discovered that Lincoln had a Retrobulbar abscess. ( an abscess that sits behind the soft palate behind his left eye.) He had a procedure to open that space to drain the abscess and was started on antibiotics. He finished his course of antibiotics( I am a nurse and religiously gave them as ordered). A couple of days later his fever came back so another trip to the vet. He was given a different antibiotic. A few days after he finished his second course he tanked. I rushed him to Davis. They did an MRI, Spinal tap and ultrasound. The MRI showed a significant infection in his brain. His brain was swollen both in his ventricles and the membrane surrounding his brain. He is on 3 IV antibiotics and making some improvement. The vet thinks with time he will probably be a functioning dog. The problem is time is money. We are obviously committed to our puppy and adore him. We want to give him the best chance possible to recover. Right now Lincoln is walking with assistance. The neurologist wants to give him at least another week in the hospital to see how much progress he has made at that point. I have never done a go fund me. I have contributed to them but never asked for myself. I am embarrassed to do it now but am fighting hard with Lincoln to save his life. I can't lose him. He is a darling boy who is just getting started with his life. Can you help? Anything would be appreciated. Thnk you, Michael
