My Daughter Jordan is 15 years old. As parents, we have always encouraged her to pursue her educational dreams. So we were pleased, last April, when she applied for a spot on FBI's Teen Training Academy. She only just received her acceptance letter on June 30th and classes begin July 10th. That only gives us less than 2 weeks to get ready. I wasn't prepared financially for the high cost of sending her and her mother to New York for a 10 day stay, transportation ($500), hotel ($3000), food ($500) and other expenses that would be required to make this opportunity happen. I do not want to see the look of disappointment in her eyes if I tell her that we can't afford it. I don't have an exact dollar amount together, but quick 'back of the envelope' calculation comes up with around $4000 that we need.
