In 2024, a team of researchers worked with history teachers in Ghana to develop a community-focused, project-based history curriculum. Fredrick Ayirah quickly became the cornerstone of the project. An inspired history teacher at one of the less resourced schools in Cape Coast, he took the lead in developing ideas for transforming the way history could be taught to help students engage with their past and their communities -- both in Ghana and around the world. But to make a real contribution on the national and global level, Fredrick needed to get an Education doctorate. On the strength of his career of work, Fredrick was accepted with limited funding to Arizona State University's EdD program! But the airfare to get to the US isn't covered. So we are raising funds to cover the costs of flying to the US. Fredrick doesn't have a US bank account, so we are managing the process, but he will get ALL funds including our contribution.
