Charlie first picked up a racquet when he was 5 years of age, even though it was almost as big as him! Since then he has participated in the Mirrabooka Squash Club junior program on Thursdays during school term, as well as junior pennants, junior clinics, and individual and team tournaments across Western Australia, from Dampier to Esperance and everywhere in between! Charlie now plays against adults at the young age of just 12 years and also helps out at the junior program where his squash journey first started. Charlie assists with the supervision and coaching of others, including the children that attend the 4-7-year-old program at Mirrabooka. When he's not there the children all ask for him as they love having him on court with them! Charlie has also worked in the club canteen to help raise funds for Mirrabooka Squash Club and volunteered to hit with kids in the inflatable courts when they have been set up at 'come and try' events. Today, Charlie is the #2 under-13 boy in Western Australia, and the #5 under-13 boy in Australia. Unfortunately Charlie didn't make the State Team this year however still wants to travel to Daisy Hill, QLD in September to compete in the Australia Junior Championships (Individuals event), but needs your help to get him there! We are hoping to raise $1,500 to cover Charlie's expenses which include flights, accommodation, entry to the tournament and presentation function, and meals. Charlie has pledged that if we reach the $1,000 mark, HE WILL SHAVE HIS HEAD!!! Further to this if we reach $1,500, his dad Daniel (aka Richo) and Mirrabooka Squash Club President will SHAVE OFF HIS BELOVED BEARD!!!! Every cent helps, so even if you can only spare a dollar, please donate today!!
