UPDATE 7/13 Chance is walking more and more. This road to recovery is going to be rough and long! He will be doing a follow up appointment and will need more x-rays done. UPDATE 7/11 Chance made it through surgery and is doing great! Poor guy has a long road ahead for healing but he is a fighter! He is covered in bruises and has quite the haircut lol. But my boy is alive! Prayers for his sister that we will never be able to get back....but we will make sure she knows she is missed and never forgotten! We get to head home now! UPDATE 7/9 Making our way to Bozeman. We have been helping him pee however he has not been able to defecate. Hopefully soon he will be pain free and able to do everything on his own! UPDATE 7/7 Picked up our boy from ER. Headed to CdA for the Orthopedic Surgeon. He has little urine output which is normal but they would like to see more. They cleaned up and closed his wounds. However, there looks to be road rash so he may have to have those surgically cleaned and fixed up as it could go necrotic. He was very excited to see us and less excited to be in the car again. He ate more baby food and has closed his mouth. Small steps but he is taking them. He tried to get up a few times but was encouraged not to. Hopefully he can get some relief very soon. So no WSU. We will be headed to Bozeman, MT for Chance surgery. We have spent the morning trying to find anywhere that could help him and Bridger Veterinary Specialists will get him in first thing Monday morning. So we are prepping for our 2 states over trip. $6,500 for just the surgery. Hopefully, everything will go over just fine! UPDATE Chance has ate some baby food and is all comfy in a big bed. Bladder was drained with little to no blood. He is starting to make amends! Thank God! First stop in the AM is orthopedic surgeon whether it is 30 minutes to 2 hours away, we will help Chance get to Chance he deserves! Hey there....most of you know how today's (July 6th) events unfolded. I took my dogs out with me to huckleberry pick like I do every year. We tried somewhere new and it definitely was not worth it. Unfortunately, some lowlife hit Scarlett and Chance and drove off. They usually don't run off and stay very close by so they must have smelled something interesting and went for it. And I don't need any lectures or "advice". Sadly, Scarlett was killed instantly. A couple of ladies tried to give her CPR but she was already gone. Instead they shielded Chance until my Mom could get to me to get me there. I loaded them into the back of my Mom's truck and rushed to the nearest veterinarian. Nothing like having to scrub the blood of your pup out off of your clothes, hands, etc. Scarlett will be cremated and brought home soon. Chance is not out of the woods yet. He has a broken pelvis, lacerations on his legs, teeth gone, lacerations on his gums, and is very banged up. He is currently at the emergency vet in stable condition. However, he needs a plate to help his public symphysis heal and a screw in the head of his femur to attach his hip and leg back to where they belong. I hate asking for help as I believe I can do anything myself. But this time, I need it. If you can't, that's ok. Share as any amount truly does help. Any left over funds will be donated to an animal shelter near by as I hope no one else has to face this harsh reality. Hold your fur babies close and NEVER take them for granted.....prayers for Chance are also greatly appreciated. My lesson was learned the hard way...
