My name is Tiffany, and I’m the founder and president of Redemption Rescues, Inc, a nonprofit pitbull/animal rescue. A little more than 10 years ago, a pregnant pitbull came into my life, and little did I know how significant her presence would be. Having my house destroyed in Superstorm Sandy, Chloe the pregnant pitbull and myself took residence in a Fema provided hotel where I birthed her 12 puppies. I kept Chloe and one of her sons, Hemi. These two dogs ended up saving my life and are the reason I began Redemption Rescues. As life would have it, Chloe and Hemi were better off living with Rob, as a full time rescue house that I was running wasn’t fair to them. They deserved full time parents, which I couldn’t be if I was actively rescuing. I have never for a moment regretted relinquishment of my furry little lifesavers to Rob, as it was clear that they were a meant-to-be family unit from day one. And I have been able to “co-parent” from afar as Rob and I are still very close friends. Fast forward to this past Tuesday when I got the most dreaded call imaginable; “Hemi is in ICU with a blockage, and they don’t think he’s going to make it. Please hurry” I dropped everything, packed my dog and hightailed it to Hemi’s side where we have been ever since. We have been at the emergency hospital day and night, laying on the floor with Hemi, crying, pleading, begging for him to make it. Unfortunately, the amount of damage done to his GI tract and vital organs from the blockage has wreaked havoc on his whole body. Every single day there’s been a new emergent condition to address, and each day we have been given little to no hope that he will pull through, but yet somehow he does. Some of you know Hemi & Chloe through me, most of you know them through Rob. He has been the best adopter and dog parent I could’ve ever asked for. He has also been an incredible support to my rescue efforts, as well as so many others. He has donated his time, money, supplies and whatever else has been needed. Now it’s time to return some of his good nature back to him. The amount of care, surgery and life saving procedures Hemi has needed thus far has been astounding. We have already paid over $16,000 to the hospital, and the bill is still growing upwards of $23,000 currently. Hemi is not out of the woods and remains in ICU, and we can not sustain these bills any longer on our own, we need your help. Hemi is the light of everyone’s life, including any and every stranger he meets. The world needs this poster-child pitbull to remain here spreading his massive love, goofiness and goodness. We appreciate everyone who can help, no amount is ever too small, and we thank you in advance!
