********UPDATE********** Debbie has been in touch to give us an update on Billy The Vet is pleased with his progress but it is still a long haul. He will continue to physio but is now ready to undertake hydrotherapy. He will be coming home Saturday for next stage of rehabilitation. The ver hopes he will have a good quality of life bit still need to work on his with right side Debbie is really thankful to everyone who has already donated which will be of great help to her even with the long journey ahead For all of you who are regulars at Marbury Park you will have encountered Billy at least once on your visits Billy already had a home but was too much for his owner at that time and a close encounter lead him to Debbie who was looking for that someone special in her life. At that time Debbie was looking for some company after a traumatic period in her life and had decided that a therapy dog may be the way forward but knew she was in no rush and would know when the right dog came along.....and then came Billy :-) Billy and Debbie have been the "perfect" couple for the past 5 years and he has helped her through the tough times in her life Unfortunately, 2 weeks ago Debbie awoke to a loud bang. Billy had fallen off the bed and was fitting on the floor. It became apparent at this point that he could not stand up so with some help from some lovely friends he was taken to the vet. After many Xrays and MRIs it showed that Billy had badly damaged his spine and ruptured a disc. He underwent surgery whereby they released the disc but Debbie was told by the vet that there was a 50/50 chance he would get to walk but that they had to give him a chance We are now 2 weeks down the line and Billy has managed to gain some movement in his two back legs and one front leg but is still not able to stand. He is turned every hour to prevent sores and takes on physio daily to try and build up the strength in his legs. The vet has said that this is all positive news, which is great The reason for this funding page is that although Debbie has Billy insured there is a limit on each individual illness/injury and unfortunately the costs of the care have already well exceeded that limit To anyone who knows Billy and that would love to see him back up and running about, we would be grateful if you could make a donation, whatever amount, to help with the costs of getting him there Many thanks xxxx
