Hi, my name is Brittanie, and I have an 8 year old golden retriever named, Averie. Recently, Averie started limping, and what I thought was a strained muscle from chasing squirrels, turned out to be Osteosarcoma, a cancerous bone tumor causing her a lot of pain in her front leg. After multiple X-rays, and blood work, Averie has the okay from her vet to get her effected leg amputated. Without this surgery, pain meds will only subdue the pain she’s in for a brief period, which basically means she would only have months before she’s in enough pain that it would diminish her quality of life. I was very much unaware at the cost of this surgery, but am willing to do anything for my girl, hopefully with some help. Averie has touched so many people in her 8 years, and if you know her, you know how much she thrives to just make people happy and smile. There isn’t a bad mood she can’t break, and although not registered, she is a therapy dog for so many people, myself included. I want to be able to give back to her, and help her be pain free, but this surgery is much, much more than I expected it would be. This is not something I want to do, as I feel awkward even asking for help, but I’m just unsure how I will be able to afford even a fraction of what this surgery will cost me on my own. If anyone is willing to help out, even if you’re unable to donate, but can share it, I would appreciate it, as would our sweet, Averie.
