Harmony Project Oakland is bringing music programs to neighborhoods all around East Oakland, such that any child who wants to learn an instrument can do so in their neighborhood or school community for free. So many kids growing up today are trapped in a world without possibility, simply because of lack of access to the arts, that makes life worth living, school worth going to, and potential worth exploring. The economic reality is that that another generation of marginalized kids will go their entire lives never seeing their own gifts, talents, and contributions, and this terrible cycle perpetuates when they have children of their own. Harmony Project's vision is to bring music to kids who wouldn’t have it otherwise, via a neighborhood program where kids can grow up being a part of something bigger than themselves - to take part in and build nurturing community, grow self-worth and realize full potential through embarking on the rigorous study and performance of music. That's where you come in. We need YOUR help to continue and expand our programming. We currently have three programs in Oakland, and they need your support! A gift of just $100 will give a kid all the supplies and materials they need for a full year (except for the instrument) $190 covers the cost of instruction for one student for one month. $500 covers one teacher for a whole week of instruction for all of the students, and $1900 covers one student for a whole year! We have grants from local and state governments and foundations; but these take time, and we have kids NOW who want access to this program - and could start as early as January 2024. With your financial support, we can keep the music going; we can keep striving, inspiring, believing, and building musical communities all around East Oakland.
