Help! Gunner the amazing Dingo dog heeler is crippled again, and this time he may never walk. His whole life is running and being free in the wilderness of Northern Arizona. Four years ago, he had a horrible accident in the backcountry where his back legs were virtually destroyed. Through the kind donations of friends and family, we were able to raise just enough money to fix only one of his legs, hoping the other leg would come along. But the risks were huge, and the vet said that without fixing both legs we ran considerable risk of him totally losing the other leg. But we had only enough money for one leg. So, we hoped somehow things might work only able to do half the operation. Biting our fingernails hoping it might all work out. Through a miracle he was able to run again, but there were constant setbacks. . .where he had to rest in his room, sometimes for a week or more after a walk or run. This went on for 4 years during which time there were some very beautiful days and even weeks he got to experience the life of a healthy happy heeler. And it all held out until one week ago when he went down badly on a short run. I had to carry him back to the car. . .his whimpering and hurt was less the pain and more the knowing his running was done for. You see, running for a dog like him is everything in his life. It's difficult now to see him sitting in the room and just lying in his bed depressed, barely able to walk. And all because we lacked the funds four years ago to fully fix both his back legs. Gunner means so much to the two families that love and take care of him. Not to mention all his many other friends at large in Flagstaff and elsewhere. But there is hope he will be fully healthy again and be able to walk and even run possibly. . if we can only complete the long overdue operation on his other leg. Please consider making a donation if you are able. Thank you. David Hartley
