*if you are interested in entering the raffle please do not donate via LFEBridge* Hi, my name is Anna Casalenda and I am assisting my sister in fundraising so she can be a part of a medical mission trip to Uganda through an organization called Sylvia's Children. Sylvia's Children is a non-profit organization started by Sylvia Allen who took part in a mission trip to Uganda. While she was there, she was asked by Geofrey Kawuma, head of the Mbiriizi Primary School, to be the school’s Grandmother. The school had over 1,000 children, which 250 of were orphans due to the AIDS crisis. Out of this Sylvia’s Children was born, Inc., a 501(c)3 organization dedicated to improving the lives of her ‘grandchildren’. Gina took part in a trip with Sylvia's Children in November of 2016 with her classmate and now friend Paige. While she was there she was able to provide health education to the students and members of the community. She worked in a clinic where she diagnosed and prescribed medication, and also provided health assessments to the students and orphans of the school. Gina also was able to assist with the annual Christmas party at the school where gifts were given to both faculty and children. Lastly. she was involved in serving meals to the school. Gina is eager to participate again with this organization in November to provide physicals and assessments to the children, basic medical care, clothing and education. She will also be a part of a medical clinic that will be available to those in the community, not just students and orphans. Through this clinic, they will be able to provide vaccinations for Yellow Fever and they will also treat Malaria. Any donations towards this cause go directly to Gina's travel to Uganda, lodging, supplies, clothing, the medical clinic, and some Christmas gifts for the students and orphans. Another new initiative Sylvia's Children has rolled out is building a farm for the school to provide natural sources of food. Any excess donations will go directly to Sylvia's Children.
