Hello, my names Bekki and I'm running this page with my amazing son Oliver. He's turning 13 soon and he's already making big plans for his future. He's signed up to do the most amazing expedition with his school and camps international... he is going to Cambodia in July 2025. Camps International is an absolutely phenomenal organisation. They have camps around the world in areas that need alot of support, they employ local staff giving many many families an income. They employ local, buy local and the students, teachers and camps international staff and leaders then help to build local, purchasing sustainable and locally produced products for the camps and encourage the travelling teens to purchase from local stores and markets on their expedition. Their projects promote and support wildlife and environmental conservation and educate the travellers on the environmental issues surrounding them. During Olivers time in Cambodia, he will be contributing to vital project work to support local communities, wildlife and the environment, aligned with the aims of the UN Sustainable Development Goals and some projects include school improvements and jungle garden reforestation, Sanitation, food security and reforestation. Not only will Oliver and the other students be playing an active part in vital project work to improve the lives of rural communities, they will get to take on the challenge of mastering the fundamentals of scuba diving and get their PADI qualification surrounded by an array of colourful marine life in crystal-clear waters of the gulf of Thailand. I am incredibly proud of Oliver and his drive to do this and I can't wait to see him embrace the unique cultures such as learning skills from local tradespeople. Practice Khmer (the local language). Learn how to cook traditional meals. Play games with local school groups. Try his hand at traditional arts and crafts. Explore the local markets. Meet survivors of the Khmer Rouge regime at S21 aswell as being blessed by a monk. Oliver has started doing odd jobs around our local town such as gardening, painting and cleaning cars however Camps international encourage children to fundraise the trip cost and Oliver has to raise £4437 before May 5th 2025 and they encourage using this platform so we thought we would give it a go. He has already made quite abit so I have edited our goal amount down. How amazing has he done already?! We would be so grateful if you could donate to olivers expedition to enable him to get to his target alot quicker and so he can go and help others and experience things we could only dream of. Even if you're only able to spare 50p. Every little helps and it all adds up and we would be forever grateful. I will continue to share photos of Oliver along his fundraising journey and update after his trip (theres no contact while theyre out there to enable the home sickness to be managable ). If we manage to raise anything ontop of paying for the trip it will go towards providing his kit and some extra sweets and little toys for the children over there. Thank you all so much. Love Bekki and Oliver. Ps. Cheeky little link if you Copy and paste it into your browser it's a video clip from the Cambodia expedition 2019. https://youtu.be/CoQv8MYNZEs
