My name is Harry, and I've been offered a place to study acting in New York City at HB Studios! I need your support to make it happen. To give you some context: it’s been a tough few years. I graduated from LAMDA’s 3 year acting course in 2018. I started working - including the small role in Ted Lasso that you see in the picture up top - but then the pandemic hit and shut down our industry. Whilst struggling to pay the bills and keep my career going, I developed some health problems. My wife Kat relocated from London to New York in search of acting work herself, so I was traveling and spending the little I made on our transatlantic marriage. Then, in 2024, my Mum passed away from cancer. I subsequently dealt with depression and thanks to the amazing family and friends I’m so lucky to have on both sides of the pond, I'm receiving treatment and starting to move forwards. My mum spent her entire adult life encouraging my brother and I to pursue our dreams, and made countless sacrifices so we could succeed. Losing her helped me to realize I needed to make a change. I applied to go back to school, but this time in New York. Growing up, my mum, dad, brother and I would rent American movies from Blockbuster every Saturday, which set me on the path to becoming an actor. Now I'm so lucky to have been offered a place at the amazing HB Studios, studying on the Uta Hagen Core Training program for one year. Uta Hagen is a key figure in the method acting movement, and taught the likes of Robert De Niro & Al Pacino. I have the opportunity to study with those who inherited the work from her, in the city I saw on screen so much growing up. I'm delighted to have been offered a place at HB. Additionally, it gives me the chance to move in with Kat and get started on the "home - dog - babies" plan we've been working on while working in our shared field. I'm so excited to reconnect with acting and come home to Kat every night, as well as paying forwards all of the support I've been blessed with. But in order to do this, I need your help! Thanks to the generosity of HB, I've been graced with a partial scholarship, leaving me with $9,000 to raise for tuition. Long term, I also need to pay to live in New York - the most expensive city in the world - on a visa that prohibits me from working. However, I've received so much kindness already, that if I can raise tuition with the help of my community, I'd relish the opportunity to be an active participant in my own rescue by figuring out the rest for myself. I have spent the last few years balancing deeply fulfilling work supporting long term unemployed people with auditioning for acting work. Since mum was diagnosed in 2024, I’ve split my time between London and Liverpool. All this to say, grinding for that cash money has not been at the forefront of my world for some time. I'm unable to support myself in paying tuition and will simply have to turn down this opportunity without your help. I just need help getting started. Please support me in raising the $9,000 I need to enroll in the program and pay my tuition fees. Whatever you can give, even if that's just a share on social media, would be so so appreciated.
