Hi all, Last Friday, Luba and I were heading out to walk our dog Gabe. He got loose from us and darted at the sound of another dog at the bottom of the steps. The other dog locked onto Gabe’s jaw and the rest was pretty, pretty bad. Gabe lost 6 teeth, a dislocated and fractured jaw, and part of the bone at the front of his mouth. The other dog was just protecting its owner, but because he was so much bigger than Gabe the damage was really severe. We rushed him to the closest emergency vet. 3 different facilities had to treat him that day and it was recommended to keep him admitted for the following 3 days. Unfortunately, we had spent so much by that point ($9,600). We had to make the decision to pull him and treat him at home under 24hr watch. 5 medications and an IV twice a day. He still can’t eat or drink on his own but we are hoping that’ll change in the next week or so. We have more procedures and appointments scheduled for the coming weeks. Sorry for the sap story. Not every day you wake up to head to work and end the night Literally thousands of dollars in debt. Luba and I have donated to these things a bunch of times. Feels a lot different from this side. Anything helps. For those of you that know Gabe personally, he’s going to be pretty sedated with the meds over the next couple of weeks and less excitement is best for him. Lol please feel free to FaceTime. And don't worry, he has company! Rocky (our other dog) has been the best brother he could ever ask for. If anyone wants to take a look and the financial/receipts please don’t hesitate to message us. TLDR: Big dogs bite Hard Surgery is expensive AF Gabe's going to look a tiiiiny bit different next time you see him This took a lot. We appreciate you guys.
