Hi, my name is Michael and I am raising funds to help a friend and coworker cover his son's medical and funeral expenses. Tyler Thomas Kennison, 27, of Hermosa, South Dakota passed away on July 19, 2024, at home. Tyler was born on June 1, 1996, in Rapid City, South Dakota. He was a proud graduate of Central High School in 2014 and attended Black Hills State University. Tyler was an amazing son, brother, uncle, and friend who lived his life to the fullest. Born premature, he overcame many medical obstacles and even suffered a stroke in 2018, but this did not stop him from working to maintain his independence. He showed his admirable strength with a smile on his face and fire in his heart. Through many unfair challenges, he was still the funniest, happiest person in any room. Tyler had a strong sense of family and welcoming his niece, Ashton, and nephew, Kyro, into his life was a great source of joy and pride for him. Tyler had an insatiable sweet tooth, and his love of candy is one he shared with his niece and mom. Tyler had to grow up quickly due to health challenges his mom faced when he was young, and his sense of responsibility, concern and care for her were always incredible to witness. The two of them shared a special bond many would be jealous of. He was an amazing son to have. Tyler was a racer and racing fan, and showed a special talent for drag racing. It would be an understatement to say Tyler loved cars and loved building classic cars, a passion he shared with his dad. He owned many hot rods, but his pride and joys were his '55 Bel Air and '69 Camaro. He made sure to attend as many cruise nights, races, and car shows as he could. Tyler traveled to attend such events many times over the years. Even when he couldn't drive anymore, Tyler continued encouraging his dad to buy more cars...he was always on the lookout for the next new ride! His passion was fierce and he lived by the quote "Raise hell and praise Dale", which described his personality perfectly. His sense of humor was unmatched, and he was known for his jokes, sarcasm, and memes. Anyone who knew Tyler knew his lighthearted, happy, silly nature, and loved him dearly for it. If you were lucky enough to get a message from Tyler, you knew you were about to smile. He will always be remembered for his incredible caring nature, how much he loved his family and friends, his passion for cars and racing, his love of candy, otters, gaming, and the way he made those he cared about smile. Tyler is survived by his parents, Dave and Denise Kennison (Hermosa), brother and sister-in-law Trevor and Cherokee Kennison (Rapid City), niece Ashton Cannady (Rapid City), nephew Kyro Kennison (Rapid City), and many family members and lifelong friends. Tyler was preceded in death by his grandfather, Tim McCraney.
