Hello everyone, my name is Olivia Mayes-Maschmeyer, daughter of Sheryl Mayes. With an incredibly broken heart I am starting this LFEBridge to raise money for my Mom’s upcoming funeral. As a lot of our friends and family know, my Mom has severe cirrhosis of the liver. The exact reason for it is unknown. She never drank, so it was not caused by alcohol. Because of it being so severe it has caused many other issues, including stage 3 kidney disease. Her episodes of critically high potassium, critically low sodium and critically high ammonia levels had gotten much more frequent and “common”. She went into the hospital June 15th thinking it would be like the other episodes, but she has not been able to get to come home. Like I said, the cirrhosis in the liver caused many things that are too out of control to contain or slow down. Now, there is no chance of getting a liver transplant anymore or even coming home. She is in pain, she is tired, she is bruised from IVs and hospital falls, and she just can’t fight anymore. She has been moved into hospice care and will be moved to a hospice, end of life, home July 18th. We have not been given a timeline of when we should expect her to pass, but her doctor has warned it can be any moment. This has made scraping together funds for her funeral a lot more pressing. On behalf of my family, we ask you to please give anything possible and share this with anyone you can. My father has been disabled for quite a long time and relies solely on disability income. After 44 years of marriage and a life devoted to my mother, my father wants to be able to give my Mom a service and burial like she deserves. There is no way for him to pay for it on his own, or even with the help of our remaining closest relatives. The cost of the funeral home is $3,475, cost of casket is $1,200, cost of burial vault, and opening/closing, and other fees are $2,500. If anyone has questions, or would like to visit her in hospice care, please reach out to my Dad, Jack Mayes, or myself, Olivia Maschmeyer.
