We are reaching out to you today with heavy hearts to support a family who has tragically lost their beloved son. We are Steven (Tatu) Meierer And Cathy George, Our beloved nephew, Ricky Powell, tragically lost his life in a motorcycle accident on July 14 2024. Our entire family, Ricky's parents Nelson and Cathy Powell, sisters Kenidy Powell and Amanda Munt,  brother Bobby Benson, And Ricky's adoring pets, Jaxson, Wyatt and Kia (Zoom) are experiencing a grief that has devastated us all to the core. Ricky was an intelligent, attractive and seemingly invincible young man. At 27, he has experienced his share of ups and downs, as anyone would expect. Ricky had many, many friends who adored him. He was always the one that the mates, as he affectionately referred to his group of friends, would always look up to. He was very popular with young and old alike. At his home was where they gathered most days. Playing hacky sack and skate boarding. Going fishing and playing ice hockey in the hole. Then after a few unfortunate events, such as a traumatic injury to his father, the loss of his grandmother, the undeniable heartache of a breakup and several other events that changed the course of his life, Ricky found himself a shell, to which he would briefly choose to be in, by himself. He distanced himself from those he loved and to those who loved him. After a while, he realized that he was in pretty deep with no way out. He began to feel desolate. He didn’t know how to make amends and break these chains that were holding him down. About a year and a half ago, Ricky began to contemplate life in a different aspect. He was able to find himself again. He began a strict regimen of healthy eating and physical fitness which enabled him to lose 50lbs!! He was on the fast track of regaining his confidence and to be a productive and responsible person. He was successful in his own way and started living his life again. Ricky made new friends and reconnected with old ones. He secured a great job and worked and worked and saved even more. He was able to buy the car he wanted, and even more importantly, the Kawasaki motorcycle that he has been dreaming of for a very long time. He saved enough money to make that dream a reality. He rode every single day and loved every minute of it! And ironically enough, we all lost Ricky when Ricky was doing what he loved the most! And that is the thought that we must hold very close and never forget that he left this world doing what he loved to do! No family should ever have to bury a child and Ricky's family was not financially ready for such an expense. Any assistance you can provide for the funeral expenses and financial obligations for the family would be so greatly appreciated. To contribute please visit their LFEBridge page. If you cannot give please share with friends. Our family thanks you for your compassion, generosity, and love and support. To our beloved nephew Ricky, Our hearts are broken to learn you have left us, We will hold the memories of you in our hearts and love you forever!! RIP Ricky. Everyone please Hug your loved ones.. Tomorrow is never promised.
