My sweet Finley got diagnosed on 5/18 with an autoimmune disease (ITP - Immune-mediated Thrombocytopenia) where his body attacks his platelets and prevents his blood from clotting. His platelets are 20% of normal levels. My poor boy has gone through internal and external bleeding and unfortunately the doctor gave him a 50% chance of survival at only 5 years old.
Just like any other pet parent out there, I've made sure to do anything and everything in my power to save my dog i.e. diagnosis, treatments, daily medication, weekly blood panels, and chemo infusions. I just moved into a house to eliminate the 4 flights of stairs he could no longer make up, got another job, and haven't had a day off in months just trying to make enough money for the next set of meds and testing.
Anyone who has gone through something similar with their pet knows that these types of appointments and treatments do not come cheap. Due to the most recent test results, we are now seeing a specialist for further treatment options. I have an appointment on 7/28 for an x-ray to test for cancer and see if we can find an underlying cause for this random auto-immune response. If nothing can be found, an ultrasound and bone marrow testing will follow. After that, hopefully a new treatment plan can be established.
If you are taking the time to read this, then you know me well enough to know how difficult it is for me to ask for help, especially for my babies. But my dogs are my whole life, and I wouldn't be asking if it wasn't necessary. I’ve spent almost $10,000 already and run through all of my savings trying to save my baby. I know we are all out there hustling to make ends meet, but any and all donations to help get Finley the care he deserves would be a huge gift to me and my fur family.
 With all my gratitude, Abby
