Firebird was founded in 2013 as an educational theater company, by young people and for young people. In 2024, we expanded into a creative, community-focused production collective for all ages. We produced RUR in June, and now, we're thrilled that The Seagull performs August 10th-13th. If you check out the ticket link here you'll notice that our ticket prices are far more affordable than other NYC theaters. We love making theatre that everyone can see. In order to create a more equitable theatre ecosystem in this city by compensating our actors and crew equitably, we need YOUR help -- $1,500 of help, to be exact. Our original education mission is intact (sign your child up for one of our innovative theater classes!) and this funding will allow us to continue to produce exciting productions like RUR and The Seagull without breaking the bank. 50% of the money we raise will go directly to compensating the Seagull team, and the other 50% will keep Firebird in existence for everything we've got planned for after The Seagull. Accessibility and affordability are how we save theatre. Even a $1 donation has a big impact. Can you help us? This backyard production of The Seagull is upholding our values of making subversive, APPROACHABLE theatre, and keeping it accessible to all. We’ve been keeping it grassroots and sustainable, getting design elements like props and costumes and in-kind donations from community members and businesses, and spreading the word in the hopes that this play will be a neighborly gathering as well as a night of thought-provoking art! Thank you for supporting high-quality, community-unifying entertainment for all.
