My name is Katlin Schneider, director and producer of the documentary Melomaniac. After four years of hard work interviewing subjects, logging hours upon hours of footage, and tirelessly editing those countless hours of footage, my crew and I have completed the story of Aadam Jacobs and his Chicago concert archive. We're ready to premiere our documentary this September at the 30th Chicago Underground Film Festival, but we need help tying the last loose ends of the filmmaking process. How Your Donation Helps Donating to this fundraiser will not only help pay for the originally composed music and audio engineering required to make the documentary sound amazing, but it will pay for the expensive licensing fees for live tracks by legendary bands. Every $250 that is donated covers licensing for the usage of one track, including songs by: Antietam Eleventh Dream Day The Mekons About the Documentary: Melomaniac For almost three decades, a passion and obsession drove "Chicago's Taping Guy" to record audio of thousands of live rock concerts in Chicago. Melomaniac introduces Aadam Jacobs and his archive of recordings, while exploring his impact as a Chicago music scene staple in the 80s and 90s. Interviews with the owners of longstanding Chicago venues including The Metro and the former Lounge Ax give perspective to Aadam's character and the music scene. Conversations with artists give the 80s/90s scene a voice through interviews that include local music icon Jon Langford and comedian Fred Armisen. The film looks forward to the vital need to preserve the historically important music legacy Aadam will someday leave behind while lingering on its importance now. "Out of everyone who I interviewed for Melomaniac, almost no one could remember the exact story of how they met Aadam Jacobs. However, one sentiment rang true; Aadam was always there, always at the show that night, always in the crowd, always recording." - Katlin Schneider
