"Some days there won't be a song in your heart...sing anyways!" -Emory Austin 13 years ago today, I captured the photo posted as our cover photo. My sweet, little girl at the young age of 4 years old. She had no cares in the world & sang at the top of her lungs from the moment she woke up in the morning until the moment she fell asleep at night. Most days she was singing songs from her heart; songs that no one knew, but one thing was certain, she was doing it with a heart full of joy. Music has always been a lifeline in our home. It has brought my kids & I through some of our lowest lows & has been a part of our mountaintop celebrations as well. My little girl is a Senior this year; not so little anymore. However, her heart is still overflowing with joy as she sings music & shares it with others. She has been a very active part of her High School Choir, including facing one of her biggest fears... singing alone in Solo & Ensemble, which has resulted in winning several awards. I couldn't be more proud of her. And then, in late Spring an envelope arrives in the mail addressed to Kiana Scholten. The return address was from Michigan Musicians Abroad. She opens the envelope and it's an invitation to tour Europe with other singers & musicians. Kiana was shocked, overjoyed, overwhelmed...I think she was feeling ALL of the feelings. An opportunity of a lifetime awaits her, literally at her fingertips! Opportunities this large don't often come to small-town girls like her! A concert in London, in Paris, in Switzerland, in Austria & in Germany!!! Singing in ancient cathedrals, visiting Windsor Castle, the Tower of London, The Matterhorn, and so many more amazing places that some of us may only dream of visiting. I am so proud of Kiana & the beautiful woman that she has become. She is kind, giving & extremely thoughtful. She strives to do her very best in every aspect of her life. She has conquered so many fears over the years; working daily to be all that she was created to be, never giving up & never selling herself short. She longs to make a difference, to spread joy, love & happiness. She longs to be a positive influence on others, to empower them, and to leave a positive mark on this earth. She is a true inspiration. I would love nothing more than to help her make this huge opportunity become an experience...a memory! Please help me help Kiana as she works to make money & raise money for this trip. Music is magic & it can take you anywhere you dream to go! Thank you in advance for your love & support!
