Join us in making a difference this Back-to-School season! Naika and I have teamed up to support a noble cause: helping students of Fleur De Vie get back to school in Haiti. Fleur De Vie is a remarkable nonprofit organization that collaborates with struggling schools in Haiti, working tirelessly to promote education, health, and environmental sustainability. As we all know, Haiti has faced numerous challenges, making access to education even more difficult. Over the years, Fleur De Vie has silently persevered, making a significant impact on the ground. Now, they face two major challenges that require our urgent support: 1. Rebuilding their partner's school in Anse A Veau: The school was severely impacted during the earthquake in August 2024, leading to an unexpected increase in the student population due to insecurity in Port Au Prince. With 450 students currently attending the school, the infrastructure is in a dilapidated state. Fleur De Vie is ready to begin the first stage of the rebuild, constructing three classrooms for kindergarten students, a well for water supply, and a teachers' lounge with a storage unit for food supplies. This storage unit is crucial as it ensures food sponsorship for all 450 students, addressing the issue of hunger in the region. However, they need an additional $20,000 to complete this stage of the project. UPDATE (August 2024): Fleur De Vie is almost done with stage one of the Anse A Veau Rebuild. The updated photo on this campaign reflects the kindergarten block that consist of three classrooms they have completed. They still need to fill this space with furniture to get ready for Back to School by October. Please help support this project. 2. Providing furniture and supplies for their partner school in Port Au Prince: Unfortunately, their school building was taken over by a gang and is now unusable. The school has secured a new space, but it lacks basic amenities such as tables, desks, and chairs for students. Fleur De Vie aims to raise $10,000 to furnish this new facility, enabling these children to continue their education in a safe and conducive environment. As the Haitian saying goes, "Men anpil chay pa lou" (many hands make the load lighter). Together, we can make a significant impact. Fleur De Vie's unwavering commitment to educating children since the 2010 earthquake is truly inspiring, and we are determined to work alongside them. Please support us in raising $20,000 to get these students back to school. Any amount raised beyond this target will go toward project number 2. And any additional funds will help continue stage two of the rebuild for the school in Anse A Veau. Fleur De Vie will keep us informed about their progress throughout their journey. Every contribution, no matter how small – $10, $20, $50 – will help educate 800 students and create a brighter future for them. If you have any questions or want to learn more, please visit Fleurdevieonline.org. Thank you for your generous support. Together, we can change lives and empower these children through education and opportunity. Let's make a positive impact on Haiti's future! UPDATE: (March 2024) Fleur De Vie made some great strides and for that we thank those of you who have donated. At the same time, they still have some ways to go. They started on the school in Anse A Veau and need to finish stage one with painting and furnisher. Stage one is the kindergarten block. After this stage they will start on stage two which is the bigger school for older students. The situation in Port Au Prince has caused the student population to multiply drastically so the need for more classrooms is dire. Once stage one is complete, they will continue with building the more classrooms for the older students. Below are some pictures: In addition, Fleur De Vie's school partner in Port Au Prince has the emergency needs. They are supporting the families of displaced students and staff. The security issue has turned the school into a shelter unit where sanitation, food, and water are scarce. Like we said before "Men anpil chay pa lou" (many hands make the load lighter), we appreciate any donation to this humanitarian cause. Thank you.
