UPDATE: unfortunately my sweet momma passed 8/22/23. Although she is no longer suffering and is her full, happy self again, it is so tough and hard to navigate this new change without her. I know this was originally set up for them for medical expenses and such but now my stepdad is having to start a new life without mom if you are unable to donate, please just keep sharing and keep our family in your thoughts and prayers! We sure need it during this time. Thank you all!! My mom has several autoimmune disorders and she has one in particular that causes liver failure. We learned a year ago that my mom would eventually need a liver transplant but we were not expecting it to happen as fast as it has. My mom has been in and out of the hospital since February where we learned her liver is no longer functioning like it should be. She has been super sick and slowly going downhill. She is currently in the hospital trying to get all of her tests and evaluations done so her case can be presented to the transplant board. But with that, she needs a transplant as soon as possible. My sister is going through tests to see if she can be a living donor but if she doesn’t pass a test then we hit a dead road because we do not have anyone else signed up to be a living donor. She is also eligible to get a non-living donor but there is no telling how long that could take. So with all that being said my mom is not able to work and my stepdad has not been able to work much because he has been by her side every time she gets hospitalized. Asking for help is something that my family has always struggled with but unfortunately, my parents are going to need financial help since neither of them has been working. This process is going to be a long one and there is no telling how long neither of them will be unable to work for. So at this point, anything will help so my dad can focus on my mom and not have to worry about bills. There will be some sort of fundraiser in the future but as of right now, we are just asking for help to get them through the next few months.
