Hi, my name is Anna. I have known Mobby for only 1 week but in that short amount of time he has shown me how resilient and brave he is. Now Mobby is in a hospital fighting for his life and he needs your help. Last week I was celebrating my birthday, eating dinner at a restaurant when I got news of an abandoned dog and today I am sitting by his side at the hospital writing this story, asking for your help in saving his life. I never expected to be in this situation; in my mind I knew I shouldn't do it, but in my heart I knew I had to help this little guy and give him a second chance at life. Mobby was abandoned and found by a Chicago Police officer Filip …. Who tried very hard to find someone that would adopt him. When I first heard about Mobby I felt very bad for him but I knew I couldn't take on the responsibility of caring for another dog, as I am already an owner of one. I had faith that someone would come around and adopt him though. Despite his bone on bone physique and clear neglect showing in his appearance he was a beautiful puppy. I had no doubt someone was going to take him. But the time was running out. The Police officer could only keep him for so long at the Police department and if nobody came around soon, they would have to put him down the next day. I called the next day to ensure Mobby got adopted but I got horrible news that nobody came for him and that the vet was on the way to put him to sleep. My heart sank and I was faced with a very difficult decision. I felt I was his last chance for survival. In my heart I knew I had to do something to save him. My plan was to take him for a few weeks, bring him back to health and then find him a forever home. When I brought Mobby home things were going well, as well as they could have, considering his condition. He was very skittish and afraid of everything at first but he started to come around rather quickly. He started eating, going out on walks and got along great with Zuzia, my other dog. He was coming back to life. He started to be very playful and full of life, just what you would expect from a puppy. I took him to the vet to check his health and overall he was a healthy dog, although very malnutritioned and missing vaccinations. He was still too weak to get necessary vaccines and the vet told me to come back in a week. We were all settling down and adjusting to our new lives. And just when I thought he was out of the woods and on the road to full recovery, Mobby took a turn for the worse. He wasn’t holding down any food or water; he stopped eating and was weakening by the hour. I took him to the emergency room in the middle of the night because I did not think he would make it through the night. I had to carry him in my arms because he couldn't walk on his own. At the hospital the vet told me that he caught parvovirus, which is common in puppies and unvaccinated dogs. They recommended that he stay at the hospital so they can give him antibiotics, and put him on IV since he was not eating or drinking on his own. He will have to stay there for few days and hopefully make a recovery although they are not giving me any guarantees. I am very grateful for the medical staff and the doctors caring for Mobby right now, however the cost of that care is overwhelming to me and not something I planned or budgeted for. In order to even admit Mobby to the hospital I had to pay a $6000 deposit and the minimum cost of the entire treatment will be $8000, likely might be higher depending how his condition progresses. This is a lot of money and therefore I am asking for your help to donate whatever you can, to help me with these expenses and to care for Mobby. I have seen how much potential this dog has and how happy he can be. I want to do everything in my power to give him another chance. He is such a fighter and he already overcame so much adversity in his short life. I know he will come out of this too given the chance and live a long happy life. I am very humbled by this experience but I believe there are good hearted people out there that are willing to help Mobby. Please donate whatever you can, even a $1 or $5 will add up quickly. Also please spread the word with your friends and family and share this link with others who want to help. I thank you from the bottom of my heart for your generosity and good wishes.
