Dear friends and family, I regret to inform you all that my son Eli passed away as Alison and I held him in our arms Friday, July 7th at 4:38pm. Eli is (not “was” bc he lives within me and all of us) a true warrior in every aspect of the word. He fought a tremendous fight, overcame the craziest of odds for an entire year before his body eventually became too tired to fight. I say body because his spirit kept fighting until his last breath like a true warrior, and it was an honor to be beside him during that time. I’m so unbelievably proud to call Eli my son. I made Eli a few promises before he passed away, one of which was I would make sure everyone would know who he is and his story. I’m doing that by creating a nonprofit in his name. I don’t have an official name for the foundation yet but the proceeds will go directly to families that have kids with the same disorder my son had, hypoplastic left heart syndrome. I know the fight my family went through and the burden those people carry. I want to help them by donating money so they can have some relief during their time of need. The proceeds raised here will go to Eli’s foundation once we get it up and running. People ask me all that time “What do you need?” or “What can I do for you?” I’ve never known how to answer until now. Please donate and spread the word about Eli’s nonprofit. He will live on through this foundation helping others. That’s who my son is… a true warrior for good, thank you! Justin
