Hi, My name is Shelina Rogers. I am starting this fund to help raise money for the funeral service of my Step-Dad Donnie Gandy. He was as much of a dad to me as a dad could be. Unfortunately, Donnie has had several health issues of late. He was receiving dialysis treatment due to kidney problems. He had also suffered multiple strokes. Recently was diagnosed with congestive heart failure. Shortly after the diagnosis and requiring dialysis Donnie's condition worsened. My mother (Tina) applied for family medical leave and was approved however, was terminated shortly after. The termination caused her to lose the life insurance policy on both her and Donnie. Donnie was placed on a ventilator on July 2nd, in hopes of giving his body rest. He was able to come off of the vent for only 2 days before having to be reintubated. Donnie was transferred to Select Speciality a part of Candlor hospital. Days after arrival we were informed that there was nothing more that could be done. The dialysis was too taxing on Donnie's body and he couldn't maintain a stable and safe blood pressure when receiving the treatment. Donnie was on Comfort care, until July 19th, when he passed.. If you know Donnie you know he was a man of great stature as well as a great heart. Donnie loved his family, he was a mechanic by trade and repairing things brought him joy, as well as old movies. Anything that you can contribute, whether it be $1 or $100 is greatly appreciated. The funds will be used to cover the cost of the funeral and other living expenses until Tina can get back on her feet.
