Hello Community Members, Collins Academy High School in Chicago's North Lawndale neighborhood is developing a NEW Fashion Design course for our students beginning in the 2024-24 school year. I am reaching out to individuals who believe in the power of education, creativity, and design to transform student lives. Our students are brimming with talent, creativity, and potential and are eager to share their work with their community on the runway this year. Sadly, we are facing some challenges that threaten to hinder our students' success. Finding approved vendors and proper materials has been challenging and expensive! By donating to support our Fashion Design course, you are not only investing in student designers' dreams but also empowering them to become entrepreneurs and future leaders in the fashion industry. Your contribution will go towards purchasing new sewing machines, fabric and material, patterns, thread (shockingly expensive), scissors, and more. Plus your donation will aid us in organizing workshops with professional LOCAL designers to provide hands-on learning experiences. We need your donations to make projects, like Custom Sneaker Design and Up-cycled Jean Jackets, come to life! To conclude the course student designs will be flaunted on the runway at the Collins Academy Fine Arts Showcase.
