Hi, my name is Keiuna and I'm the cousin of the late Derreal Jackson. My cousin was unfortunately and unexpectedly taken from us, by what is visibly a clear and uncut case of homicide and negligence by FWPD. For everyone who knew D, knew that he didn't have to be taken from us in this matter. The type of obvious, inhumane treatment that he received was unexplainable and unthinkable, to say the least. He was taken from us far too soon and the blatant disrespect exemplified by the Tarrant County system is completely unbelievable and unacceptable. We need the support of communities in every part of Fort Worth, the surrounding cities of Fort Worth, DFW, rural, state and more nationwide. This is a situation that has occurred on numerous occasions and attention needs to be paid to the treatment of our young Black men and women while in the custody of local and state officials. When informed of Derreal's passing, no details were discussed and FWPD couldn't and WOULDN'T tell us anything; therefore, we are needing assistance in rallying to providing a private autopsy, requesting video/audio from the intake department, the medics, time served in the cell, etc. This injustice has become too frequent and is unacceptable!
