Hi my name is Veronica and if you know me then you know my dogs Delylah and Pepe and how much they mean to me. They are my family and my heart and soul. Delylah was recently diagnosed with amelanotic spindle cell malignant melanoma in her mouth. Generally this is a pretty aggressive cancer when it is in the mouth. However, with catching it early and having the mass removed there are a number of hopeful non-invasive options. I would never do any surgery or treatments that would hinder her quality of life or to keep her around for my benefit. Her first surgery was $1300. The next steps would be to do some tests to stage the cancer. The vets are pretty hopeful that she is early stages because she is so healthy and it was caught early which gives more options for successful treatments. But just for the diagnostic/staging which would be either CT or X-ray along with a biopsy of the lymph nodes (depending on which the range is $1600-$4400). If she is early enough stage there is a melanoma vaccine that could be very beneficial to slowing or stopping the spread (vaccine cost: $3300). She does have another suspicious spot on her lower lip as well that they would like to remove if possible. That surgery would be very easy for Delylah to recover from and would not lower her quality of life in the sense of eating or drinking at all. But the cost of that would be $3000-$6000. I would never ask for financial help, however, this sweet baby girl means so much to me and is really in good health otherwise so her chances are looking great at this point except the extreme expenses of the initial staging/diagnosis and then the treatments. Anything will help as I want to do everything to keep her happy and healthy and spreading her awkward joy to everyone that meets her
