Craig Lagendyk was a former BRFC player who passed away January 13th, 2017, after a brave and lengthy battle with cancer. Craig was known across the Quebec rugby community for his hard, passionate, and gritty play. He was a man of honour and could always be counted upon to stand up for his friends, his team, and his community. One of Craig's final wishes was to have a special fund created to support the development of junior and youth rugby. The Craig Lagendyk Beaconsfield Rugby Memorial Fund was established in 2017. The fund has supported a multitude of families and the rugby community since 2017 and has provided greater access to the sport for many young players. The fund also enables equipment acquisition, coaching support and training and enhancement of the junior and youth programs. On Saturday, August 5, 2024, Beaconsfield Rugby will be hosting the 2nd Annual Craig Lagendyk Memorial Day at Beaconsfield High School with four sr. women's & men's games beginning at noon. The 2nd Annual Craig Lagendyk Memorial Plaque will be presented to the winner of the 4.30pm game (BRFC's Men's 1st team vs Montreal Irish 1st team). The 2024 Fund will be managed by the BRFC Executive Committee. On behalf of players, parents and alumni, we thank you for your support. *This fundraising page was organized by Kim Simpson on behalf of the Beaconsfield Rugby Fundraising Initiative. All funds will be transferred to the BRFC Executive Committee for management.*
