It is with shock and great dismay that I share the passing of Clarissa Anne Hammon (Sweet), who was brutally abducted and murdered by a stranger on July 10th, 2024. Her sisters and mother have been left bereft & heartbroken. Clarissa was an artist with a quirky smile who had the most elegant sense of color schemes and a wickedly funny sense of humor. Clarissa selflessly placed her only son in an open adoption 24 years ago and his father has generously paid for her cremation expenses. Her mom and sisters are certain she is united with the Universe and her life force has become one with the ever-present hand of Love that they will strive to carry forward. But they still long to hear her excitement on the phone as she tells them how much she loves her birthday presents (June 26th) and them . . . or about how beautiful Salem, Oregon is… Their pain is so deep. i am organizing this fund with the full support of her family, Deidre (mom), Brianna Hammon and Adrielle Libbee (sisters) during this tragic time to cover for lost work/pay bills as they grieve and attempt to regain their footing in this now terrifying world. They hope healing could include creating a celebration of her life and the costs of that celebration. The family may have additional expenses to travel to Oregon for the trial because police believe they may be able to catch the predator who did this. Anything left over will be donated directly to individuals with disabilities in crisis or those experiencing homelessness. Deidre works tirelessly on behalf of others and I hope we can all support her and Clarissa’s sisters during this difficult time.
