UPDATE: Chelsea received her second dose of chemotherapy today. The doctor says, “Miss Chelsea has had a strong partial remission following one dose of Elspar and steroids! This is fantastic news!!” Chelsea will receive three more treatments to finish off this first round of CHOP: Cytoxan, Vincristine, and Doxorubicin before we decide our next steps. I am so grateful for your support as four rounds (recommended by veterinarians across America) cost about $18,000. Divide that by four, and you’ll know how much we are putting into getting Chelsea well! But it has been worth it to buy some time with her! ❤️ Hi! My name is Heather, and I am raising funds for my dog, Chelsea. I ended up with Chelsea after a student of mine became homeless in 2019. He asked if I could watch her for a little while until he could figure something out. Well, nearly four years later Chelsea is still with us. She was the dog I never wanted but didn’t know I needed. When I experienced the loss of a dear friend to suicide and the loss of a decades-long career, Chelsea was a little healer to me, distracting me from my pity and reminding me of gratitude. On my deepest and darkest days of grief, Chelsea and my two other dogs gave me a reason to live. My canines are like my children as I don’t have children of my own. That said, had I not recently changed my career, I would have the money to fund her chemotherapy treatment, which she has responded to well already in less than 24 hours. Unfortunately, we cannot afford to do a complete L-CHOP treatment, but we thought it would be worth a shot to try one of four rounds. If I have donated to your sons’ and daughters’ charities or fundraisers over the years, please consider a small donation so I can either continue with chemotherapy or help Chelsea cross the rainbow bridge at home with those who have loved her throughout the years. Thank you.
