In the night of July 4th, our dear and playful friend Chappie was injured beyond anything we could ever imagine. Chappie is a 8 year old Golden Lab. He loves long walks and taking it all the scents from the outdoors. His favorite hobby is finding tennis balls hidden in the bushes. He can find you a tennis ball anywhere in about 10 seconds of saying "Ball!" All his hard work and effort in order to play fetch and roll around the grass. He is a good, loving boy. He protects his family and loved ones and is always waiting for the next outdoor adventure. During the fireworks of July 4th, the loud explosions frightened him in a way that had not happened before. In his hopes to find a quiet place, he broke out into a place with hazardous liquids. The liquids burned his skin and fur. We did our best to care for him afterwards, but the damage had already been done. He suffered many burns leaving him with excruciating pain unable to lay down or even eat. Chappie's vet said he would have to get a skin graft ($10,000 procedure) - but even that would not guarantee proper healing or hair regrowth. The other option was to slowly heal his wounds every two days ($500 procedure) - but also would not guarantee healing in the coming weeks/months. He has started his first treatment, everything went well, but much more will still be needed. We're hopeful for Chappie's energy to push through his pain and healing, and with the care of his parents to meet all his needs and return to his happy place before this horrible incident. We love you Chappie. We will always love you. We are going to work for you and provide the best we can! We're asking you to help us in this road to recovery - Anything you can contribute will be used 100% towards Chappie's care and future treatments. Thank you!
