Mattie, a recently adopted schnauzer-poodle mix needs surgery to remove bladder stones. Mattie is one of the most loving, docile, well-trained pets and emotional support animals that you might find. Her new Daddy and long-time family friend, Carlos Hurst, a USMC Veteran in recovery, lives on a fixed, limited income and is unable to pay for Mattie's surgery. Although Carlos is trying to come to terms with the possibility of having to "put Mattie down", I am asking for your help to ensure that he will not have to experience that potentially-devastating sadness. Mattie's veterinarian fully believes that this surgery would allow Mattie to live a long and healthy life. The Board of Directors at Matties' adoptive shelter, New Hope Animal Shelter in Deland, Florida, has agreed to reimburse a portion of her bladder-stone surgery. This reimbursement, plus private donations thus far, has netted funds of $1,150 (37%) of the estimated $3,100 total required. Your help is extremely valuable towards Mattie and Carlos being able to continue their mutually-supportive bond for many years to come. I am thankful for your consideration! Sincerely, Alicen.
