Hello! My name is Nyki, and I am raising money for Brenda and John Whealton. I am engaged to their daughter, Sandy. Brenda began her next journey today, July 3rd, as she passed away. In going through their finances and important documents, it has become apparent that we need some financial assistance in preparing for Brenda’s final expenses. Brenda and John have worked hard their entire life without asking for help, even through the tough times. In August 1974, Brenda and John began their life together as a married couple. Two years later, in September of 1976, they welcomed their first pride and joy, Richard. In January of 1981, their 2nd child, Robert, was born and sadly passed away during birth. Later that year, in December, they welcome their 3rd child, Sandy. In 1994, the family lost everything in a house fire. They powered through and rebuilt their life from the ground up. They were thankful for the life they built. They also have 5 beautiful grandchildren and 1 precious great-granddaughter. Brenda is a warrior! She beat small cell carcinoma in 2024!!! However, at the end of April 2024, Brenda was taken to the ER where a tumor was discovered in her brain. At the beginning of May, Brenda had surgery to attempt to remove and biopsy the tumor. Their attempts to remove it were unsuccessful. Two weeks later, the biopsy showed that it was a metastasis so we could treat it! Woohoo! We were so happy! Once Brenda healed we could start chemo and radiation. She was so ready! About a month after that original surgery, Brenda awoke to blood and seepage from her already closed incision. She went to the ER where she was again transferred to Christiana Hospital. She underwent surgery once again to open her incision, clean the infection, and remove a piece of her skull. We learned that she had MRSA in her incision. Following that surgery, Brenda was not permitted to stand or walk due to the infection and the missing piece of skull. She became very weak and entered a rehab center 3 weeks later. After being at the rehab for 6 days, Brenda was rushed to the ER for congestive heart failure. Brenda was struggling to breathe as well. She entered the hospital 6 days ago. She was placed on hospital care 4 days ago. Brenda has since started rapidly declining. Her husband, John, will be learning to live on his own and managing his own finances after being with Brenda for 50 years. He will also lose her social security payment. However, their bills will not decrease much. This fund will be used to pay for Brenda’s final expenses and anything left over will allow John to pay off some debt to help lower his monthly financial obligations. If you can find it in your heart to help Brenda and John, we would be so grateful. Even if all you can do is share, please do so. Every dollar and/or share helps relieve some of the burden on Brenda’s family.
