Bella is the sweetest cat but also goofy, is very vocal about her food, and loves sunbathing in the backyard (supervised of course)! Anytime someone is sick or sad, she stays by their side all day, purring to help them feel better. We are now faced with an extrememly difficult decision. We can either ampuate her leg and give Bella a chance to live, or put her down. A little history: A few years ago, we noticed a grape sized lump on her back leg, but we couldn't get an appt with a Vet because of covid. We finally got a Vet for her last year and they started her on Gabapentin for pain. Unfortunately, she keeps building a tolerance to it and it's just not working anymore. Recently, we brought her to the Mass Veterinary Referral Hospital and the doctors recommendation was for a complete left hind leg amputation. The tumor had grown rapidly and is larger than a golf ball now. The good news is her lungs are clear, which means it has not metastasized. Her doctor is confident that if we remove her leg, she will have many more happy years as a tri-pawed cat. We know that Bella wants to live and we are willing to do whatever it takes to help her get better. Unfortunately, the cost of the amputation is outrageous and we just don't have the money for this unexpected expense. Any amount of money will help and is greatly appreciated. If you can't help financially, please share.
