Gulf Kids Snow Dream! Mount Surprise can be found in Far North Queensland, a basalt dot on your map! Our population is 150 people and our history is enriched with gem fossicking, beef production, tourism, larva tubes and so much more. Our weather is a hot and dry climate with a breathtaking wet season, hot storms and rolling open spaces. A distant vision from that of the soft snow fields and wintry winds of Thredbo and Perisher. 2,428.7km from Mount Surprise QLD to Canberra ACT. A long journey for our children! Due to our remoteness, this will be the first time that all students will experience snow. Some of our children will experience flying for the first time, the atmosphere of a large city, the business of bustling people, and new sights and smells of a busy world away from their quite little remote town. An experience is a moment in time that will last a lifetime. Due to the remoteness of our little school our Parents and Citizens' Association consists of six dedicated mothers fundraising tirelessly for the future of their children and to support their beautiful little school. We seek your kindness and generosity to help make this all worthwhile! As we know just a small act of kindness can reach so many people. Funds raised will help with all aspects of the journey, including 2 flights for over 16 children, accommodation, bus hire, skiing, meals, National Zoo, as well as a visit to Parliament House and the Australian War Memorial. These activities alone will open the children's minds to a world of opportunities. Please donate and help some rural and remote children experience a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity!
