Austin Mayfield was truly one in a million who blessed the lives of countless people during his time on Earth. He was a loving son and brother, he enjoyed the company of his many friends and was a loving husband & father. It is with great sorrow to state he is no longer with us as of July 11th, 2024. We attempt to take solace in knowing his spirit will live on through our words, our actions, and our kindness. Austin was welcomed into this world on January 3rd, 1987 by Denise (Mother), Lewis (Father), and Shane (Brother) in Maquoketa, IA. He grew up in Davenport and attended primary school at Johnson Elementary as well as Holy Family. He was an outstanding athlete and a student. He enjoyed playing many different sports and studied a wide array of subjects. His talents were best seen on the football field where you would witness his incredible strength working in concert with his competitive intensity. After he graduated from Assumption High School, he attended Saint Ambrose, then went on to make contributions to the workforce. He met the love of his life Ali (Wife) in 2013, shortly after they were married. Austin and Ali's love blossomed and blessed this world with 3 children: Ava (Daughter), Ana (Daughter), and Apollo (Son). He enjoyed the company of his family and took pride in the care he provided. Their family was lovingly referred to as the A-Train, the reason can be seen by observing the first initial in their names. Austin continued to enjoy the thrill of competition by participating in various running events and frequently training with his partner Ali. To say Austin will be missed is like saying a fish will miss the water. I cannot author the words to show his impact on those he knew, however, I can steal this excerpt from poet Edgar Allen Poe, to illustrate what he meant to us: "But our love it was stronger by far than the love Of those who were older than we- Of many far wiser than we- And neither the angels in heaven above, Nor the demons down under the sea, Can ever dissever my soul from the soul Of the beautiful Austin Mayfield" The funds raised will go toward the cost of the funeral services and the future of his 3 children. Austin is survived by his wife (Ali) and three children (Ava, Ana, Apollo), as well as his mother (Denise), father (Lewis), and brother (Shane).
