Hi, my name is Connor, and I accidentally hurt a beautiful, sweet, pupper. On June 30th, while I was visiting for our friend Geordi’s wedding, my longtime friend Kaelyn’s beautiful 5yo Husky named Arlo did some unsupervised excavations of my bag, and accidentally ingested an unknown amount of ibuprofen from a 500ct bottle that had spilled open. After an emergency trip to the vet (and lots of towels/cleanup), he’s currently under thorough medical supervision to monitor his alarming symptoms including dangerous neurological & digestive issues, and potential kidney failure. He may require surgery. His ingestion of ibuprofen was especially troublesome when mixed with the ordinarily safe anti-anxiety medication he had taken that evening to ease his comfort with my (a tall, scary, deep-voiced stranger) temporary stay. Kaelyn does amazing work as an Advocacy Services Manager for Sexual Assault Support Services, helping hundreds of women who have endured unthinkable trauma and working on preventative measures to reduce the numbers of this already disturbingly high population. They have dedicated their entire adult life towards improving—if not saving—the lives of others in need, and I’m honored to be friends with someone who works towards making the world a better place every single day. Another thing I love about them is their deeply passionate love for animals, as they’re currently in care of another sweet 3yo pupper named EmmyLou, and two gorgeous senior cats Fox and Moonshine; all rescues, and each of whom feel rather lonely and concerned without Arlo’s presence in their home. Kaelyn is not a person to ask for help with financial burdens, despite a career that offers much more in emotional reward than it does in the financial— they’ve rejected my offers to contribute to the expensive costs of Arlo’s medical fees, despite my similarly low source of income. This is how we got here: I implore you, and/or anyone you know who can to contribute here in whatever way possible to lighten the heavy financial burden Arlo’s journey to recovery is causing for Kaelyn and their chosen family. Arlo is a sweet, silly boy, who I had the pleasure of only briefly meeting before he fell gravely ill from what I wholly believe to be my action of not ensuring my bag was secure around him. Just as he doesn’t deserve to be in pain and need of veterinary care, Kaelyn does not deserve to front the absurdly high bills of ensuring his well-being. If you are not able to contribute, please, please share the information of this fundraiser so we can make this beautiful fella’s road back to full health as smooth, successful, and inexpensive as possible.
