Happy one year ALI-VERSARY When Appalachian Legacy Initiative was formed, we set out to bring the first multi-state, data backed, sustainable management program to the thousands of feral herds living on surface mines across Central Appalachia. Over the last year we have done exactly that. Servicing 19 separate surface mine populations year round and 32 in the winter months we have seen ALI grow into a life line for the thousands of horses we reach. Giving revitalized life back to horses and the communities who surround them each and every day. Finding new and innovative solutions to herd health management working directly with the companies, community leaders and tracable owners to bring wide spread change not only the herds, but the real people who share the mountains with them We have proven that feral/wild horse management can be conducted in a manner that is not only effective, responsible and respectful to the horses, but those who surround them on a ground level. We have been working incredibly hard behind the scenes to cultivate new relationships with project partners to help us take ALI to the next level in our advocacy efforts. We are so INCREDIBLY excited to officially announce that in collaboration with a project working towards helping Appalachian revitalization of surface mines to build a sanctuary for the wildlings who share Coal Country along side us. The magnitude of the impact this project will ccomplish with a property such as this is far and beyond my wildest dreams. All the building supplies will be purchased from within the county so when you give, you're not only helping us achieve this dream, but also helping the rural economy. This project will be a massive undertaking and we need your continued support now more than ever to help us step into this new Era of ALI. The first year building expenses for medical holding areas, intake pens and pasture fencing will be a big goal to meet.
