"3RD GEN" is a dance memoir featuring personal survival stories around the events of the Holocaust and the Second World War. This piece is a pilot project, representing the first development step in a more extensive full-scope program that will commemorate Holocaust survival stories through dance. It will create a new path for Holocaust commemoration, touching audiences with creative methods to deepen the emotional comprehension of such terrible events. It aims to preserve these stories so that future generations will remember the hardships of those who have fallen and those who pushed on. This piece is inspired by my grandparent's survival story and personal experiences. As a 3rd generation descendant of Holocaust survivors, I believe that today, as only a handful of survivors remain, telling these stories is more vital than ever – assuring humankind never commit such acts again. This funding will help me hire the staff required to build this piece and facilitate the creative and operational needs this project demands. First show will take place in; Emerging Artists Theater's Spark Festival NYC NYC- October 30th-November 19th, 2024. _________ About me : I am Shany Dagan an Israeli-American Performer & Choreographer, working in NYC, CA and Israel. Moved to NYC in 2012 after growing up in Gilon- Misgav (small countryside - northern part of Israel). After 3 years of serving (IDF). During Covid-19, I found an even bigger passion in the creation process, as well as being a performer myself. This Show has been in the making for 2 years and now I feel ready to present it.
