These are just a few of the phrases that come to mind when thinking about Talitha Hickman. If you have ever been blessed to meet and spend time with her you will know exactly how accurate those phrases are at describing the person so many of us love. As many of you know, Talitha has been quietly battling a particularly nasty form of breast cancer for the past two years. Not one to seek attention, her nature is more to keep the struggles to herself, and not burden others. More recently things have taken a bit of a turn, and not in the direction everyone was hoping. She is now deep into a pitched battle for her young life, and faced with the reality of the price tag that medical treatment has put on that life! It’s time to stop being quiet about this battle. Jim and Talitha have already dug in deeply to their savings and retirement accounts to try to stay ahead of the financial obligations. Both Jim and Talitha work extremely hard at their jobs, to try to slow the outflow of funds. Financial help is desperately needed to deal with the mounting medical bills. To face the realization that there really is a price tag on your life seems so unthinkable. The price on the next round of treatment is such a formidable number! It can only be achieved by the grace of God and through the kindness of others.
